We have prepared some of the most common questions to ask your wedding venue when choosing the right venue for you.  Some of the questions may not be relevant to the sort of wedding you are planning, but it is worthwhile asking them anyway so there are no nasty cost surprises and you can compare like for like with the wedding venues you have arranged to view.

Venue

  • Is the venue available on the date
  • Is the venue licensed for civil weddings
  • Is there a hire cost
  • Is there a set up and break down fee
  • What deposit is required and what are the cancellation notices
  • What wedding packages are available (and do they include cost of venue hire)
  • Are there other weddings taking place on the day
  • Can we have exclusive use
  • What restrictions are there – candles, decorations, confetti, disabled access
  • When can we access the room for decorations
  • Will you set up the room if we supply the decorations
  • Is there a cost room or space for hanging coats
  • Can we use our own wedding co-ordinator. Is there an inhouse wedding planner
  • Is there a dance floor
  • What time does the entertainment have to stop
  • Are there any restrictions on sound level for entertainment
  • Are gratuities included for waiting staff
  • Is there sufficient parking
  • Is there guest accommodation
  • What time will accommodation be available
  • Are there changing facilities or a room for day use for the bridal party
  • Are there locations for stunning photography
  • Do they have a list of preferred vendors
  • Can I choose my own wedding suppliers
  • Do they have a cake-stand and knife
  • Do you have a safe room to store wedding presents and are they insured

Catering

  • What drinks or cocktails are served for reception hour
  • What time is the alcohol licence to
  • What is the latest time the reception can finish
  • Can we taste sample menus
  • Is there facility for an open, paid, or partly paid bar
  • Is the bar located near the entertainment or in a separate room
  • Can we bring our own drinks and what is the corkage price
  • Can we see sample table settings
  • What does a sample place setting look like
  • What table linen colours are available
  • How many waiting staff do you employ per guest ratio
